1994

OUR ADVENTURE BEGAN IN 1994
California.Venice Beach. Bodybuilding’s Garden of Eden. Like the original Eden, the inhabitants were mostly naked. Flexing their muscles. And lifting weights. Itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny bikinis were seen. Our founder, a newly-graduated lawyer, began lifting weights and supplementing with powdered creatine.

1995

THE COMPANY IS FOUNDED
He continued to train and enjoyed some success. But was unhappy with his creatine experience, especially the digestive side effects. And the tedious but required loading and dosing that interfered with his schedule and spontaneous social life. He began to look for a better solution and found one. Soluble, liquid creatine in an absorbable serum.

6 MONTHS LATER – OUR 1ST PRODUCT DEBUTS
ATP Advantage, the world’s first soluble Creatine Serum went on sale in small quantities and was an immediate bestseller. As an alternative to powdered creatine monohydrate, it eliminated unwanted side effects. The ease of usage of a sub¬lingually absorbable serum taken in small convenient dosages gave our product an advantage that no other muscle energy + power bodybuilding product could match.

1996

CREATINE.COM GOES LIVE
Launched to provide information about creatine and to answer specific questions from experienced athletes and beginners about what creatine is and isn’t, the website also became an e-commerce outlet for ATP Advantage. Back then, bricks & mortar stores hesitated to have new and effective Creatine Serum on their shelves competing with their established trade in powdered creatine.

1997

WE’RE A BIG HIT!
Favorable word of mouth began circulating on bodybuilding forums and fitness blogs. This positive attention attracted international distribution deals and partnerships with major retailers like GNC, Vitamin World, The Vitamin Shoppe and others. The young company, now named Muscle Marketing USA, and positioned with the slogan Achieve Result. Safely, expanded rapidly. And grew its product family, adding formulations beyond bodybuilding that included cycling, running, soccer and weight loss for men and women.

1998

OUR REVOLUTION GAINS MOMENTUM
Not everyone was pleased. Or wished us well. MMUSA’s mission from day one was to provide bodybuilders with a safe alternative to steroids and other potentially dangerous products Back in that era, these risky drugs were almost legal and sold in grey markets by dealers who did not have their customers’ safety as their first concern. Let’s just say healthy competition was not on the agenda of some of our business rivals.

MMUSA DISCOVERS IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE
A real athlete. Not a celebrity or famous competitor.
With a muscular body, almost classically Greek, not grotesque. He is cool, not freakishly aggressive like a lot of the models seen in the advertising of the time. Poised and confident, he lifts a very heavy barbell. No drama. Just results. Our first ad captured everything we wanted for our customers The headline: “Spend Your Time Lifting Weights Not Spoons” said it all.

1999

IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY
The supplement industry attracts larger than life personalities and aggressive entrepreneurs. Who set themselves up as health and fitness gurus. Some buy advanced degrees form mail-order universities and make fake science pronouncements in order to impress their customers. When our first formula was introduced, these guys started attacking the science behind our innovative products. The problem was, they were not scientists. So they made up junk science theories and tried to discourage curious athletes from trying our serums. But luckily for us, times had changed. In the new age of the internet neutral and accurate information could be easily obtained. MMUSA got stronger every day. Despite the imitation serums claiming to be just as good as ours that began flooding the market.

2001

WE TAKE OUR SHOW ON THE ROAD
We were and continue to be a group of athletes, scientists, and coaches pursuing one mission. Constantly explaining that our products work like nothing else. We consistently tell our customers that their muscles are the single most important success factor in athletic performance. And that our supplements help them make the most of repetitive weight training and are the scientifically-proven way to increase muscle size and efficiency. And where’s the best place to carry that message? Trade shows. Lots and lots of trade shows like.

2004

OUT OF THE GYM AND INTO THE GREAT OUTDOORS
We introduce a new packaging design and logo that emphasizes our US roots. MMUSA products are now sold in over 50 countries worldwide. Even more interesting, this year marks the first time that our sports formula sales volume matches our serums sold to weightlifters and bodybuilders. Cyclists, runners, swimmers, Tell us that they too are Achieving Results, Safely.

2010

THE WINTER OLYMPIC CITY IS OUR LIVING LABORATORY
Vancouver, BC, Canada is the fittest city in North America. Locals like our Creative Director brag that they can ski, sail, bicycle, and swim in the ocean, all on the same day and all within the city limits. Major lifestyle and outdoor brands like Lululemon and Arc’Teryx were created here. Inspired by the spectacular landscape and the prevalent fitness culture (Vancouver’s annuall OK race has a world-beating 60,000 participants) our founder began to expand our product range to reflect the worldwide fitness revolution and to do our part in the global war against obesity.

2012

THE NUTRICEUTICAL REVOLUTION ARRIVES
Traditionally, sports performance enhancement products, also called ergogenic aids were the exclusive domain of bodybuilders and extreme athletes. But this core audience for sports products accounts for only 5% of total industry sales. And you can’t start a world revolution by just talking to one group. We have discovered that there is a much larger, and growing, number of consumers, who are trying to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. This reflects a generational change in thinking about basic consumption of food and beverages. Now, the accelerating trend is that the global consumer wants what’s good for them – as well as a product that tastes good. MMUSA has been researching advanced nutriceutical formulas since 2011.
